BP Texas City Refinery - Industrial Accident 2010

British Petroleum is reporting yet another industrial accident today. According to BP’s refinery spokesperson, two pipefitters were seriously burned by steam yesterday at the Texas City plant. One of the workers was airlifted to University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston and the other was transported to the Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. Neither workers’ status has been updated at this time.

BP is still reeling from the industrial explosion that caused the Gulf Of Mexico oil spill earlier this year as well as the ongoing investigation surrounding the 41 day benzene release a few months ago. The Gulf of Mexico oil spill has cost this industrial giant billions of dollars to clean up and will continue to cost the company as the Gulf region gets back on it’s feet.
